The UK Government is more than a quarter of the way towards insulating a million homes in five years, new statistics indicate.
The energy department said today that some form of upgrade work had been carried out at 276,000 homes between May 2015 and July 2016 as part of plans to hit the target.
The energy department also provided an update on the Energy Company Obligation, saying 1.9million upgrades had taken place via the scheme between the start of 2013 and July 2016.
Cavity wall insulation accounted for 36% of energy saving measures, loft insulation made up 25%, and boiler upgrades comprised 22%.
About 12% of residential energy efficiency improvements were in Scotland and 5% were in Wales. A fifth were in the north-west of England, more than in any other region.
Nine of every 10 houses that benefited from the scheme used gas as their main fuel type.
