Petrochemical giant Ineos has denied claims it planned to cut tea breaks for 1200 workers at its Grangmouh facility.
The company released a statement after it was claimed in media reports earlier today it would be axing a 10am tea break.
A spokesman for the company said the proposed changes had been suggested by independent contractors for the timing of a 10-minutes mid shift break.
He said: “Our independent contractors have proposed a change to the timing of a 10-minutes mid shift break.
“A pilot scheme would include a move of the 10-minutes break and 30 minutes’ additional pay for inconvenience.
“Our contractor partners have consulted with their employees and with the Unions under the National Agreement.
“People are being asked about their views about the proposal and a final decision will be made in conjunction with the unions at the end of the proposed pilot scheme.”
