Technip and FMC Technologies said yesterday that they had received EU anti-trust clearance ahead of their proposed merger.
Antitrust authorities in the United States, India, Turkey, Mexico and Russia have already approved the deal.
Both firms will hold shareholders’ meetings on December 5 to vote on the link-up.
The deal is expected to go through in early 2017, they said in a joint statement.
The two companies have operations in the north-east of Scotland.
