Six Pakistanis working for a Polish oil firm have been kidnapped, according to reports.
The incident happened on Saturday afternoon when the Geofizyka Krakow workers were snatched from their vehicles on read in northwestern Pakistan.
The firm is a subsidiary of PGNiG.
A spokesman for PGNiG said: “They were sub-contractors providing works for Geofizyka Krakow, a firm which is now in liquidation. They were not Polish.”
A Polish foreign ministry spokesman said the embassy in Islamabad was monitoring the situation.
No militant group has claimed responsibility for the kidnappings.
The area where the workers were kidnapped is close to South Waziristan, part of the lawless Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) bordering Afghanistan.
