Kvaerner has announced an agreement with Allseas for the recycling of the topside and bridge of the Valhall QP platform.
The 36-year old platform is set to be removed by Allseas on behalf of Aker BP in winter 2019 and spring 2020.
Kvaerner has also signed a deal with Saipem UK for the decommissioning of the Varg A platform.
Saipem UK are removing the structure on behalf of Repsol in the summer of this year.
Kvaerner’s site at Stord is set up to environmentally dispose, reuse and recycle components and materials from offshore platforms and underwater installations that have completed their production.
Guro Høyaas Løken, SVP Decommissioning & Marine Operations in Kvaerner: “Over the last year we have secured several contracts for recycling of closed-down oil and gas facilities. With an increasing number of offshore installations reaching the end of their production, the agreements with Allseas and Saipem for removal and recycling are strategically important to us”
