An oil tanker seized by pirates last week has been released and its crew freed without harm.
The Maltese-flagged Cotton was hijacked with 24 Indian crew on board off the coast of Gabon Monday.
It was the first attack of the sort in the country’s waters in five years.
But the pirates left the vessel in the early hours of this morning and its captain had resumed command, according to its Turkish operator, Geden Lines.
“The master has confirmed that all 24 Indian crew members are safe and in good condition,” Geden Lines said.
“The vessel is now on her way to a secure port.”
