A television conference will try to convince the energy industry 3D is the way to go – subsea.
The European 3DTV-Con 2013 conference is being held in Aberdeen next week – the first time the event has been staged in the UK.
The conference, which has traditionally focused on using 3D technology in film and TV production, will showcase the current and future uses of added-depth vision in subsea operations.
“I think it has the ability to try and move inspection and construction techniques to the next stage, to be able to do things more quickly and accurately,” Steve Bowring, managing director at Bowtech Products, told Energy Voice.
Conference chair John Watson hopes the event will spark a debate between professionals to turn the technology into a practical industry tool.
“I would like to see that interaction encouraging future development – maybe some of the people that are coming will get together and foster new products, new ideas,” he said.
