Five North-east charities have been given a boost through a scheme from a US oil major.
Marathon Oil staff have worked with the Scottish charities to address business issues, including marketing, processes and creating partnerships.
And as part of the project the charities – Aberdeen Amateur Athletics Club, Mental Health Aberdeen, Befriend a Child, Somebody Cares and Drugs Action – each received a £1,000 donation from the oil firm.
“As well as supporting these third sector organisations in the local community, it has given our employees a wonderful opportunity to develop their business acumen in an environment very different to our own,” said Carri Lockhart, UK regional vice president of Marathon Oil.
The charity Somebody Cares hosted a summary meeting where Marathon Oil teams reported their findings and recommendations.
“We were delighted to have been asked to participate in this event,” said Brian Taylor, chief operating officer of Somebody Cares.
“Not only did it give us some valuable input to our business management strategies, but it also was a great opportunity to network with other charities in Aberdeen.”
