Engineering services group Amec has agreed a £18million deal to buy a US nuclear firm.
The deal, which is due to be completed by the end of the month, will see the global engineering firm buying Illinois-based Automated Engineering Service.
The firm, founded more than 20 years ago, provides plant design, engineering analysis and safety support to the nuclear industry in the USA.
The new combined US nuclear business will operate under the name Amec AES.
“This acquisition builds on our nuclear position in the US, allows us to better serve our clients and provides a solid platform from which to achieve further growth,” said Amec’s US power operations president Tim Gelbar.
“It is an important addition to our strong positions in the nuclear markets in Canada and Europe.”
