A lifestyle programme aiming to increase the general health of the energy workforce has scooped a top safety award.
The Well Track programme, developed by catering and services firm Sodexo with the University of Aberdeen, was launched to give workers bespoke advice on diet and exercise on- and offshore.
The programme also offers coaching support to reduce potential stress from rotations between home and offshore, with a specially-designed rewards system encouraging participants and their families to maintain their progress.
Now the scheme has received national recognition after picking up a safety gong at the Energy Institute awards in London.
“Independent research shows that a healthy employee is more alert to safety risks and is more likely to demonstrate safe behaviours,” said Simon Seaton, chief operating officer for Sodexo Remote Sites Western region.
“We created Well Track to help our offshore clients improve the health, wellbeing and subsequent safety of their workforce which is vital in this dangerous environment”.
