An oil boss who admitted destroying evidence after the Macondo oil spill has been sentenced to one year’s probation.
Anthony Badalamenti had faced up to a year behind bars after admitting in October destroying evidence while the cementing technology director for Halliburton.
But today US District Judge Jay Zainey sentenced him to one year’s probation. Badalamenti was also ordered to pay a $1000 fine and carry out 100 hours of community service.
The Katy, Texas resident had orders two employees at Halliburton to delete data during a review of the cement job carried out on the blown-out well in the Gulf of Mexico, prosecutors had claimed.
