A former BP engineer found guilty of obstructing the investigation into the Deepwater Horizon disaster has had his sentencing delayed until August.
Lawyers for Kurt Mix had been looking to delay sentencing until late July after the 52-year-old was found guilty of deleting text messages relating to the 2010 disaster.
He had been due to be sentenced last month, but lawyers had looked to extend that period until the summer to allow Mix to find temporary employment.
However, Judge Stanwood Duval has now ruled that sentencing will take place on August 6.
Mix faces up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine for deleting messages to and from a supervisor and BP contractor over the attempts to control the spill.
