AIM-listed African Potash has identified four drilling prospects in its Republic of Congo asset as it readies to launch its first drilling campaign.
The company has completed the planning and preparation phase at its Lac Dinga Potash exploration project as it interpreted 470 square kilometres of seismic data carried out during recent oil exploration on the licence.
The results indicated about 250 square kilometres of salt bearing formations at a depth of about 250 to 350 metres below surface.
The drilling to test the salt prospects is scheduled for the third quarter of the year, with two wellbores to be drilled by September 2014.
“The interpretation of the newly acquired data is a final achievement in completing the planning and preparation phase of our exploration programme at Lac Dinga,” said Edward Marlow, African Potash chief executive.
“With four highly prospective target areas identified, two of which we plan to start drilling in the third quarter of 2014, this is a very exciting and significant point of development.
“With a defined exploration programme in place to advance the project we look forward to the outcomes of this upcoming drill programme.”
