Floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel services firm BW Offshore has today announced the sale of the supertanker BW Opal for £56.6million to BW Group.
The deal value is based on independent reports and a technical inspection of the vessel, which is classes as a VLCC (very large crude carrier).
It also includes an option for Oslo-based Oslo-based BW Offshore, which describes itself as the world’s second largest FPSO contractor – boasting a 17-strong fleet of the vessels as well as a floating storage unit.
BW Group, an international maritime services company based in Bermuda, is the biggest shareholder in BW Offshore, with a near 50% stake.
