Aberdeen oil service firm Sparrows Group has expanded its reach in the Middle East after forming a local partnership with Zamil Group in Saudi Arabia.
The “strategic alliance” will see Sparrows’ full range of services being offered through Al Khobar-based Zamil.
Sparrows specialises in the provision of lifting, crane engineering and mechanical handling services to the offshore oil and gas industry.
The firm already has Middle East bases in Abu Dhabi and Qatar, and recently opened new regional headquarters in Dubai.
Chief executive Stewart Mitchell said: “The Middle East is already an important market for Sparrows and will continue to play an increasingly significant role for us in the years to come.
“Saudi Arabia is a powerhouse in the region and we have focused a lot of resources in identifying the right partner to support us in entering the country.
“We believe we have found a partner that complements our own strengths in the delivery of engineering, equipment, inspection, operations, maintenance and training across the asset life cycle.”
Dating back to 1946, Sparrows moved into the oil and gas market in 1975 and is celebrating four decades working offshore this year.
