Prosafe’s chairman has been forced to resign due to “health reasons”.
Ronny Johan Langeland stepped down with immediate effect yesterday. The board will meet on October 23 to elect a new director as chairman. Deputy chairman Christian Brinch will take over the leadership position in the interim.
The election committee has since recommended Harald Espedal takeover over the role on a permanent basis.
A company spokesperson said: “Mr Langeland has been a director of the board of Prosafe since 2002 and chairman since May 2014. Prosafe would like to express its gratitude to Mr Langeland for his significant contributions during his term of office as director and chairman.”
Prosafe, which provides semi-submersible accommodation vessels, recorded an operating profit of $248.3million last year.
Its most recent contract win was with Shell for the Regalia semi-submersible accommodation vessel for the Brent C platform in the UKCS. The contract, which begins in the second quarter of next year, is thought to be worth $24million.
