Sponsors of an oil and gas industry conference have agreed to support the event so it is free to attendees for the first time in its 13-year history.
Devex 2016 organisers said the change was in response to the current economic environment.
The two-day event to be held in May will be focused on reservoir discovery, evaluation, development and recovery in the UK.
The conference is expected to attract 300 delegates and its theme this year is “delivering positive change to reduce costs and maximise production”.
Brenda Wyllie, the Northern North Sea and West of Shetland area manager for the Oil and Gas Authority (OGA) and the event chairwoman, said: “Despite the current economic climate in our industry, there continues to be a great deal of good and interesting work planned for the year which the conference will explore in detail.
“We are delighted that we can run the technical conference free of charge which will give everyone the opportunity to get involved.
“This wouldn’t have been possible without the support of our industry partners: BP, Taqa, Nexen, OGA, Centrica and ConocoPhillips,” she added.
The organisers have issued a call for the submission of papers.
The event will also feature the popular expert-led masterclasses, while an event for young professionals will take place on day two. There will also be opportunities for the supply chain to showcase technology and expertise to the operators in the form of one-to-ones and pitching sessions.
Devex 2016 will be held on May 18 and 19 at Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre.
It is a not-for-profit conference run by industry professionals and is jointly organised by the Petroleum Exploration Society of Great Britain (PESGB), Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) and Aberdeen Formation Evaluation Society (AFES).
