CNR International said all crane operations on the Murchison platform have been suspended after “significant” damage was caused to a crane yesterday.
The company the move had been taken as investigations continue into the cause of the incident 280 miles North of Aberdeen.
The incident was first revealed earlier today which happened with 102 personnel on board.
A spokeswoman for the company said: CNR International (UK) Limited can confirm that there has been significant damage to the boom on one of the Murchison platform cranes following an incident that occurred during a lifting operation yesterday.
“No one was hurt as result and all 102 personnel on board at the time of the incident are safe and well. There are no plans to downman.
“An investigation team, led by a member of CNR senior management, has been mobilised, and Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has been notified.
“The cause of the incident is still being established, however as a precaution, all crane operations on the platform have been suspended.
“Safety is a core value and CNR takes all incidents of this nature very seriously.”
