An investigation has been launched after the death of a man working on a ship being operated by Technip in the Cromarty Firth.
Both Police Scotland and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) are investigating the incident which happened on Friday.
According to reports, police were called to the incident at around 8.45am.
The man is understood to have been a crewman with the ship Deep Energy, which has been berthed at Invergordon, and is operated by Technip.
A spokesman for the HSE said it had been made aware of the incident and is now liaising with Police Scotland.
The accident was believed to have involved a forklift truck.
A spokesman for Technip said: “It is with deep regret that we confirm that as a result of an incident at the quayside at Invergordon this morning, a crewman from the Technip-operated vessel, Deep Energy, has died.
“The incident was reported at 8.30am. Emergency services attended the scene and an investigation into the circumstances of the incident is in progress.
“Relatives of the crew member involved have been informed. The company is offering support to the family, colleagues and friends.”
Police Scotland said: “Police were called to Cromarty Firth Port Authority, Shore Road, Invergordon at 8.45am after receiving a report of an industrial accident.
“Sadly, one man has died as a result of the injuries he sustained.
