The Petroleum Safety Authority in Norway has started an investigation into a fire which broke out on the Petrojarl Knarr FPSO (floating production, storage and offloading) vessel.
The incident halted production temporarily and happened only one week after it had begun.
A spokesman for the safety authority said it had decided to initiate an investigation “following the generation of fumes on the production vessel”.
The small fire had broken out during the night, Norway’s Joint Rescue Coordination Centre said.
Operator BG Group holds a 45% stake in the field while Idemitsu holds 25%, Wintershall holds 20% and DEA 10%.
