An offshore worker is in a stable condition after falling overboard from a rig.
Statoil said the incident happened in the early hours of the morning from the Seadrill West Hercules off Newfoundland & Labrador in Canada.
The semi-submersible is being used as part of the Norwegian company’s exploration drilling program in the region.
According to reports, the Seadrill employee was recovered from the water using the Maersk Clipper rescue vessel and was transported back onto the rig.
A medic on board the rig has been attending to the worker, who is in a stable condition.
Following the incident, Statoil said all employees had been accounted for.
An investigation into how the incident occurred will now take place between Statoil and Seadrill.
The incident has also been reported to the Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board.
