Former Balfour Beatty chief executive Ian Tyler has joined Cairn Energy as a non-executive director.
Tyler, currently non-executive chairman of Abu Dhabi-based Al Noor Hospitals Group and a non-executive director of BAE Systems, joins the Edinburgh-based oil and gas exploration firm with immediate effect.
He is credited with expanding Balfour Beatty to a global infrastructure business worth £10.9billion during his eight-year spell at the company.
He will also serve on the company’s renumeration and audit committees, following from his similar role as non-executive director and chairman of Cable and Wireless’ audit committee.
“I am delighted to welcome Ian Tyler to the Cairn Board,” said chairman Bill Gammell.
Ian’s extensive business experience and independent perspective from outside the oil and gas industry will be of immense value to Cairn.”
