International oil and gas explorer Woburn Energy has named Syed Abedi as its new chairman.
The 69-year-old, who was a former director with Shell, was the first Indian employed by the company when he joined as a geophysicist 41 years ago.
After taking early retirement from Shell he set up exploration consultancy Zawiyah Associates and cofounded energy companies in Africa.
