Former Venture Production chief operating officer Jon Murphy has been named chairman of exploration firm Northern Petroleum.
The oil industry veteran, who helped guide Venture’s 2002 flotation and subsequent sale to Centrica, takes on the role with immediate effect.
The 57-year-old is currently a non-executive director of Trinity Exploration.
“His extensive experience in the industry and understanding of how to grow and build E&P businesses will be invaluable to the company,” said chief executive Keith Bush.
“We look forward to him challenging the executive team and providing guidance and mentorship to the board and Company as a whole.”
