Independent Norwegian oil firm Det Norske Oljeselskap (DNO) has appointed current Statoil senior vice president as its chief executive.
Karl Johnny Hersvik will take over the reins of the Middle East and North Africa-focused exploration and production company on May 1 next year.
Sverre Skogen will remain DNO’s executive chairman until Hersvik’s arrival, before switching to a non-executive role.
Hersvik has held several managerial and business development positions at Statoil since joining in 1998 before becoming senior vice president of the research and development division in January 2011.
