The largest independent firm of chartered accountants in Scotland has strengthened its oil and gas focus with the appointment of a new tax director.
VAT specialist Fiona Weir has joined the tax team at Johnston Carmichael where her key remit will be working with clients in the oil and gas and financial services sectors.
Fiona qualified as a chartered tax adviser while she worked at PWC for three years.
She then joined RBS where her primary focus of work was to offer advice on its retail banking and insurance divisions.
The tax team will service clients from the firm’s Aberdeen and Edinburgh offices.
Fiona said:”I am very pleased to have joined Johnston Carmichael and look forward to contributing to the work undertaken by the firm’s tax team.”
Susie Walker, head of tax at Johnston Carmichael, said: “We are delighted to have secured both the knowledge and skills which Fiona has to offer.
“She has a wealth of experience across a broad range of transactions which will make her a much valued addition to the team.”
