It’s been a busy six months for leading carrier Singapore Airlines after it launched a new non-stop route from Manchester-Houston, announced a Flybe partnership to target the North West and Scottish market, and introduced the latest A350 fleet offering an enhanced passenger experience.
Sheldon Hee, Singapore Airlines, General Manager of UK & Ireland, said: “We were delighted to launch our first non-stop Manchester to Houston route in October last year. As America’s fourth largest city, Houston is a cosmopolitan destination boasting world-class arts, award-winning cuisine, shopping and nightlife and of course, NASA. It’s also a major player in the oil industry, not to mention the medical sector which remain big business for the city.”
On the Flybe partnership which was announced in November 2016, Hee added: “We’re excited to be able to serve passengers in Aberdeen. Through our partnership with Flybe we’ve greatly increased our reach throughout the UK, helping regional customers to access the high quality service and comfort that Singapore Airlines is known for, from their local airport. Aberdeen is a prospering business hub that has an established energy industry and we’re proud to keep finding new ways for UK customers to access our flights closer to home.”
At 10:10am on 17th January 2017 Manchester Airport waved off the inaugural A350 Singapore Airline’s flight to Houston. Commenting on the newest aircraft in its fleet, Hee said: “The Singapore Airlines A350 has been operating on our Manchester to Houston route since January and customer feedback has been very positive. As one of the world’s most modern and efficient aircraft, it takes aviation to new heights in terms of the on-board experience. Coupled with the A350’s quieter noise footprint and wider windows, the Singapore Airlines A350 features the new Premium Economy class cabin and the latest Business Class design. Both cabins offer an unrivalled experience with services such as a Book The Cook menu, complimentary champagne, HD touchscreens with more than 1,000 entertainment options, and a generous 35g baggage allowance.”
As an official sponsor of OTC 2017, Hee adds: “The oil and gas industry has a reputation for reinvention and innovation and OTC is true gathering of the women and men behind that growth. Aviation and offshore exploration have a lot in common – they’re both continually challenged to break through technological barriers, they both have safety at their heart and they’re both truly global. We’re delighted to be able to develop new links between two global energy centres – Aberdeen and Houston, and we hope that partnering with Energy Voice demonstrates our support for the oil and gas sector in a bid to become better, cleaner and stronger.”
