A nuclear reactor which was shutdown after a minor fault should restart this week.
Belgium’s Tihange 2 nuclear reactor was shut automatically on Friday because an electric motor in a non-nuclear part of it broke down.
According to reports, the problem was “relatively simple” with the reactor expected to be online again by June 15th.
Electrabel, which is the Belgian arm of French group Engie, operates seven nucelar reactors in Belgium with a total capacity of 6,000 megawatts, which covers about 55% of the nation’s electricity consumption.
