The Japanese carmaker Toyota will source 100% of its electricity for Its new North American headquarters from renewables energy.
The company will make the move after completing a deal with MP2 energy.
It has awarded a five-year power retail deal to the Texas-based firm for its head office in Plamo, Texas.
The contract involves providing electricity from renewable energy sources, including wind and solar, for the carmakers officer, support facilities and data centre and light industrial and automotive plants.
Meanwhile, Toyota will also construct a 7.75MW photovoltaic plant at its campus in Plano, which will be operational next year.
The three separate methods are expected to be able to generate enough electricity to meet about 25% of the headquarters’ electricity needs.
Toyota has set itself the goal of eliminating CO2 emissions in all of its operations by 2050.
