Oil major Shell is said to be interested in entering a second tender process to build a North Sea wind park in July.
The company told parliament in the Netherlands the potential for energy in the country was “very attractive”.
However, a Shell spokeswoman could not confirm that Shell would bid on the 680 megawatt (MW) Borssele III and IV wind farms.
The spokeswoman did say it was studying the option.
The Dutch government awarded the first Borssele I and II 700 MW wind farms to Denmark’s Dong Energy which had bid at a record low price.
The tender for two additional offshore sites will have a combined 680MW output.
It opens next Friday and runs through until September 29th.
