Statoil is said to have expressed an interest in New York’s commercial wind lease sale which will launch next month.
The company said it is now considering the further details.
In October, the US Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell and the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) Director Abigail Ross Hopper, said the lease area consists of five full outer
continental shelf blocks and 143 sub-blocks.
The development is about 11 nautical miles off Long Island.
Participants will get the chance to state how cost effectively they can produce energy.
Statoil has not definitively decided whether it will submit an offer.
