Scottish ministers have written to the UK Business Secretary amid claims indecision is putting at risk more than £1.3billion of funding for large-scale renewable energy products.
According to The National, the move has also been made in conjunction with the leaders of three island councils.
In a letter to Greg Clark, politicians have expressed their concern about the effects of prolonged uncertainty over support for energy projects on the Scottish Islands.
The Scottish Government has said delays in saying which technologies would be supported in the next round of auctions could put existing investments at risk.
Deputy First Minister John Swinnney said the UK could “ill afford” to miss an opportunity to unlock £1.3billion of investments offered by projects on the Western Isles and Shetland.
He called for the “period of uncertainty” to come to an end and urged the Secretary of State to “harness the renewables potential” of the islands.
