China plans to raise the ratio of natural gas in its energy mix to 6.8% in 2017 from 5.9% in 2015 as the country’s “war on pollution” enters its third year, a news report said today.
Nur Bekri, director of China’s National Energy Administration, said the Asian powerhouse wanted to reduce coal consumption to about 60% of the total in 2017 from 64% in 2015, Reuters reported.
Bekri also said China would try to lift non-fossil fuel consumption in its energy mix to 14.3% next year, up from 13.3% this year, the report said.
