The biggest wind power scheme in Africa should be connected to the national electricity grid and producing power by the end of June.
The scheme had faced a number of challenges due to problems securing financing which had delayed construction.
The founder of the Lake Turkana Wind Power project in Kenya, said most of its 365 wind turbines had been erected and the last batch of 30 was due to arrive in Mombasa next month.
The turbines for the project are being supplied by Denmark’s Vestas Wind Systems.
Kenya is looking to increase its electricity generation and investing in expanding and reinforcing its grid to keep up with demand for power and to reduce frequent blackouts.
