A trio of Norwegian firms plan to create a “one stop shop” for environmentally friendly hydrogen solutions.
Nel ASA, a world leader in the technology, has entered into a letter of intent with Hexagon Composites ASA and PowerCell Sweden AB to establish a joint venture.
The companies will use their combined expertise in the renewables field to help customers develop and produce “complete and optimal” hydrogen technologies.
The group will initially focus on maritime projects as well as projects to leverage renewable energy resources.
Jon Andrè Løkke, chief executive officer of Nel, announced the collaboration deal this week.
He said:”This cooperation is strategically important, as we will be working with global market leaders and utilizing each party’s respective technologies and competencies to develop new hydrogen solutions.
“The joint venture will be equally owned by the three parties and will initially focus on projects within marine applications. Over time, however, the joint venture may also evaluate projects within other application areas.”
Løkke added: “Together with Nel’s leading technology for hydrogen production and fueling, the three companies are positioned to deliver unparalleled customer value in the form of a zero-emission power solutions.”
