Atlantis Resources said today that the first AR1500 tidal turbine at its MeyGen project off Caithness had produced first power.
The turbine, designed under contract by Lockheed Martin, was installed in just 30 minutes last weekend.
The company has published a timelapse video of the installation.
It was the fourth and final turbine to be installed as part of the first phase of MeyGen in the Pentland Firth.
The first three turbines were a different model – Andritz Hydro Hammerfest tidal stream turbines.
Construction for the next 6MW phase of the MeyGen project is due to commence later this year.
