Investment firm Aquila Capital has bought six hydro power plants in Norway for an undisclosed sum.
Aquila has bought the run-of-river plants, all of which are located near Bergen, from BBK AS.
They produce enough energy in a year to power 3,500 homes.
Smakraft, which is 100% financed by investment vehicles managed by Aquila, will operate the assets.
Tor Syverud, head of hydropower at Aquila, said: “We are delighted to have acquired this portfolio of high quality hydro power plants. We have been active in Scandinavia for several years now during which time we have established an extensive local network and a strong pipeline of target investments.”
