The firm behind the Aberdeen bay wind farm testing hub has applied to Scottish ministers for a new marine licence.
Aberdeen Offshore Wind Farm Ltd, the developer behind the European Offshore Wind Deployment Centre, is seeking the approval fir uts currently deployed floating Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) device.
The system is used to measure wind speed and direction measurements.
The current marine licence runs out in September 2017.
The project is said to cost £470,000.
Representations can be made to the Scottish Government in support or objection.
