The world’s first panda shaped solar farm has been officially connected to the grid, according to reports.
Panda Green Energy Group Limited, formerly known as United Photovoltaics Group Limited, claims the power plant in Datong Shanxi has now officially connected to the grid.
It is understood to use two different kinds of photovoltaic panels to create the colours of the panda bear.
Datong Panda Power Plant is said to have an aggregate install capacity of 100MW, of which the first phase 50MW project was successfully connected to grid.
According to the company’s website, Panda Green Energy launched the construction of the Panda Power Plant in May 2016, after signing a cooperation agreement with the United Nations Development Program.
