Shaimaa Omar, a 27-year-old entrepreneur from the rural city of Sohag, is challenging gender roles in her homeland of Egypt with her start-up, Biomix.
By partnering with local farmers she’s succeeded in turning agricultural waste into Biogas and organic fertilizers.
Beginning the company when she was 24, Shaimaa has now expanded the project to over 12 cities.
Her start-up now has support from the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
