France has announced thew winners of tenders to develop high power ground based solar power projects.
The photovoltaic systems will be capable of producing up to 500MW of power.
Launched in 2016 for a total volume of 3,000 MW, the call for tender for large-scale solar installations comprises six application periods distributed over three years.
The move is part of France’s objective announced on July 6 in the Climate Plan to reach 32% of renewable energy in 2030.
The winning projects in this second round will provide electricity at a “historically low price” according to French officials.
Projects will offer €55.5 per MWh for installations of greater power (between 5 and 17 MWp) and 63.9 € / MWh for all projects.
Among these winners, 82% committed themselves to participatory investment and will see their premium increased by 3 € / MWh .
This level of commitment, which reflects the willingness of citizens and communities to take ownership of energy production, is also on the rise compared to the first period of this call for tenders.
In addition, nearly half of the projects will be located on degraded land such as brownfields, dumps, old quarries and will make it possible to develop neglected land.
The winning projects are:
The third bid period, which will be closed on December 1, will also cover a power of 500 MW.
