North Lanarkshire based company ABO Wind has submitted a planning application to Scottish Borders Council for a new onshore wind farm.
The development is looking to construct seven turbines with a total capacity of 24.5MW near the currently operational Langhope Rig Windfarm.
ABO Wind has confirmed that the overall project will cost in the region of £20million with around £8million of that spent locally.
The development would also create a number of jobs, with a proposed 30 workers required during the construction phase.
Clark Crosbie, head of development for ABO Wind UK said: “The site is located well outside the area being discussed for a proposed Borders National Park. In addition, the site has good wind resource, a readily available electricity grid connection and is relatively isolated from houses”.
