An 18 turbine wind farm is to be built near Dalmellington, Dumfries and Galloway.
The site will be capable of generating and providing up to 59.4MW of energy for the region.
Proposals were launched as far back as 2012 to get the project underway but faced significant public and local council objection.
Among a number of concerns, worries about the detrimental effect on scenic views and the local landscape ranked highest.
Concerning the Benbrack project, E.ON stated on the website: “We choose our wind farm sites very carefully and always consider the area’s wind resources, road access and connections to the national electricity network and the site’s geographical position so that we can minimise visual impact of the project where possible.”
