Investment group, Capbal, has announced that they have received planning consent for a battery storage unit in Perthshire.
The 10MW unit, which will be situated on the Feddal Estate near Braco in Perthshire, will connect to the local electricity grid managed by SSE.
The battery storage unit will utilise and hold electricity during periods of low usage for release during periods of high usage.
The unit is expected to become operational in 2019.
Capbal’s business partner, NEC, will provide four units in total, similar to the new storage facility.
David Fyffe, founder and chief executive of Capbal Limited said: “We are delighted to have secured our first storage consent in Scotland at Braco. We have other schemes in the pipeline in Scotland and elsewhere in the UK that will provide greater energy security and support the country’s moves towards a low-carbon energy system.”
