After dry testing in Sweden, the CorPower C3 Wave Energy Converter (WEC) has been delivered to Orkney for final checks and installation.
Based at the European Marine Energy Centre’s (EMEC) Scapa Flow site, once final checks are complete the WEC is expected to be installed and on-site commissioned at the beginning of 2018.
CorPower have also completed the installation of their foundation installation which will be used to secure the WEC to the seabed.
Leask Marine’s C-Odyssey multicat vessel was used for the installation, with a dive team assisting the subsea activity.
Robert Argo, marine operations manager at CorPower, said: : “We are pleased to have successfully completed this foundation install together with Leask Marine, who provided precise, reliable and safe offshore operations for this part of the project. Having a significant track record in installing and supporting marine renewable energy devices, Leask Marine is a highly appreciated partner.
“We look forward to continuing to work closely with the Orkney supply chain over the coming months during deployment and maintenance of our resonant C3 Wave Energy Converter”
