Energy services giant Petrofac has been awarded a £150million contract to help build a wind farm in the North Sea.
The contract from TenneT, the Dutch-German transmission grid operator, is for the 700 megawatt Hollandse Kust Zuid (HKZ) wind farm.
Petrofac will supply the topside and jacket for the Alpha substation, with an option for the Beta.
HKZ Alpha is due to become operations in 2021, with Beta the following year.
The Dutch government is targeting 3.5 gigawatts of offshore wind energy production capacity by 2023.
Group chief commercial officer George Salibi, said: “We have been involved in a number of projects with TenneT in the North Sea, so are delighted with the opportunity to support them with this key project.
“The award of this EU tender builds on our relationship and is further demonstration of Petrofac’s expansion into adjacent sectors, including renewable energy.”
