Energy Voice took a spin in Shell’s EV (electric vehicle) race vehicle over the weekend during a visit to the energy firm’s annual Shell European Eco-Marathon.
Held at London’s Olympic Park, the four day event saw 100 EV teams from across Europe, the Americas and Asia compete to be crowned champion.
Each team had to complete 15 laps (9 miles) in under 35 minutes and must complete the trial using only one litre of fuel or the battery equivalent.
John Marwick, a mechanical engineering student from Strathclyde University and part of the USEV team said: “It gives us great pride to be the first Scottish team taking part. With teams from all over it’s us leading the way in Scotland. It gives you a great sense of pride and achievement.”
