Shetland is to get a new 50 megawatt (MW) wind development between Lerwick and Scalloway if an application by developer Peel Energy is successful.
The Mossy Hill development will be applied for as part of the new remote island inclusion within the UK Government’s Contracts for Difference (CfD) auction.
The project is expected to involve 12 turbines with a height of 474 feet.
A spokeswoman for Peel Energy said: “The predicted likely environmental effects associated with the installation of the proposed development have been carefully considered throughout the design of the Mossy Hill wind farm proposal.
“The evolution has, wherever possible, taken into account the views of the statutory consultees, local community and their representatives, as well as the views of other interested parties.”
Peel Energy already has permission for the 8MW Beaw Field development on Shetland islands.
