A single wind turbine in Aberdeenshire is to produce power for more than 550 homes in Bristol.
Thrive Renewables has entered an agreement to supply Bristol Energy with power from its Clayfords Windfarm near Strichen.
The year-long deal starts in September, delivering 0.8MW of wind power.
Both fims said agreements such as this enable more people to benefit from affordable, green electricity.
Matthew Clayton at Thrive, which is also Bristol-based, said: “Thrive exists to offer individuals a rewarding connection with sustainable energy, so having the opportunity to provide our renewable power to a company like Bristol Energy, with similar values to us is extremely rewarding.
“Deals – such as this one – with independent renewable energy providers enable an increasing pool of people to benefit from affordable, green electricity in their homes.”
Thrive owns 21 renewable sites across the UK, with the Clayfords project becoming operational in 2015 along with the nearby Auchtygills turbine.
Bristol Energy supplies power to more than 76,000 homes across the UK.
