A wind turbine belonging to General Electric (GE) has collapsed in the US, according to wind farm operator Enel Green Power.
The turbine is understood to have broken apart at the 65 megawatt (MW) Chisholm View II project in Oklahoma.
Enel Green Power claim the GE turbine collapsed in winds of 40mph.
This is the second such incident to occur to a GE wind turbine following the collapse of a structure at the Casa Mesa Wind Energy Center in New Mexico a couple of months ago.
GE are currently the creators of the world’s largest offshore wind turbine.
The company revealed earlier this month they are looking to meet with Scottish offshore wind developers with “suitable projects” for its Haliade-X 12 megawatt (MW) turbine.
The energy firm said it expects its new turbine to be of “great interest to many developers” in Scotland.
GE Renewable Energy added that it “expects to announce something this year”.
